Special Commissions

Across the Universe

July, 2018.
EMC Night Golf Tournament, benefitting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society of Canada, Montreal.

“Across the Universe” is an original painting commissioned for the EMC Night Golf Tournament in Montreal. It speaks to the themes of resilience and connectivity, of finding light in the darkness and the love and support of community. In this work, our connection to each other is illuminated in the glowing night sky and starlight, under the gentle protection of the moon. Each lantern graces the sky and radiates its luminance of memory, support and survival in their respective hues of golden yellow, red and white. Their light pours forth from their forms and flows into the surrounding image. The infinite light of the lanterns envelops the walking path and golf greens. Here, we gather. With each step, each swing and each memory, across the universe, the light will always shine.

Tikkun Olam: Acts of Kindness Mural

June 2018 - ongoing.
Solomon Schechter Academy, Montreal.

This mural is an ongoing special project centred in the themes of kindness and creativity. This project was created to harmonize within this unique environment, designed as a respite from the chaos of school life where students can pause and breathe. Here, uplifting words of inspiration are nestled in the Tree of Life painting, across several walls. It is in this space that students can contemplate such concepts as creating, being kind, treasuring their friendships, sharing, play and laughter in three different languages: English, French and Hebrew. As a special initiative, selected students are invited to participate in its design, as they explore their creativity.

“The Garden of Love” Mural

December, 2017.
Maurice A. Halperin Early Childhood Center.
Florida, USA.

“The Garden of Love” mural was created to harmonize with and reflect the beautiful natural environment that surrounds it. It integrates with the landscape, flowing from it’s fixed space into the actual garden and world around it. In this inspiring setting, the Tree of Love articulates words of wisdom such as love, inspire, dream, explore and create. The mural utilizes a watercolour approach in its composition of hearts and hamsas. These universal symbols glow in multilayers of copper, pink and blue. Each facet symbolizes the many hearts of the school’s students and each outstretched branch, the learning they will glean through their education there.
